A Crafty Mess DT cards

Hiya peeps.

Please find, below, my 2 cards for the latest challenge post over at A Crafty Mess challenge No 2-Anything Goes/Traditional Christmas Colours.
We had a huge amount of responses to last months and I know that all of our DT members are hoping to attract roughly the same amount for this challenge theme..
For my first card for this challenge, I used  the Candy Canes Bells Ho Ho Ho by Bugaboo and coloured them using Sakura metallic pens, matt & layering the image on top of pure black card and then gluing it to white glitter card and added the two colours of ribbon and the little bronze effect star.

For the second card I used Lily Fairy by Stitchy Bear which I coloured in using a mixture of Promarkers and Flexmarkers, die cut it out using a scalloped circle and then topped that on
to a larger die cut scalloped circle (from the Grand Scalloped Circle Die set) in a beautiful spring green card. The image & topper was then stuck on to the base card which has been layered with a beautiful pastel green gingham check paper. I added a gorgeous butterfly printed ribbon and a grass green coloured thin beaded chain (at an angle), finishing off with 5 small different lime green buttons. I also stuck a layer of the pastel green gingham check paper to the inside of the card. I hope you like them both as much as I do.

A clean & simple DT application card

Hiya crafters and handcrafted card lovers,

Im showcasing a beautiful clean & simple card that I have made today for a Design Team application that I would like to pass on to Noor Designs UK to see if they will consider me to
be a worthy crafter for their fabulous company & website.

About me:
I am a 53 year old disabled single parent to a 17 year old daughter and also mother to my eldest daughter who is married and has given me 2 lovely grandsons. I have been crafting for most of my life, but mainly card making for the last 6+ years on a continual progress as I am no longer able to work due to my disabilities. I craft, therefore, to keep  my mind and my hands active. I love to craft as I can not just sit about watching the television or surfing the net. I class crafting as not only my life, but also my therapy. I adore all sorts of images and can work with both digital and rubber stamps. I own a Grand Calibur and a Big Shot. along with a fair collection of assorted dies, of which, unfortunately, consists of only the two sets of "Joy" dies that I have used for this application card and that I have taken photos of & placed in this blog post as I dont know the names of the die sets.

Why am I good enough or even the "one" for Noor Designs??? I believe I am, this is due to the diversity of my creating. I can create all types of cards for all occasions, I can sew and I can upcycle.  I can go from Clean & Simple to completely covered in lace, ribbon, an image, sentiment, flowers, etc.  I am not a complete expert in colouring but I do a really good job.  I also believe that my artistic background does really help me with the design/layout of the card/creation I work on. I can pick up a piece of card or paper and work out, expertly as to what/where and how I am going to use it.

My media sites:  I hope you can see that in my work that you can view on here on my Blog, on my Pinterest account, Cards By Marg at Pinterest, and on both of my Facebook pages, my personal page (Marg Byatt) and my handmade crafts page of Cards By Marg.

The photos of my (beautiful even if I say so myself) 8 x 8 inch Christmas card using an image of 2 geese by Little Claire's Designs (part of the Christmas Geese clear stamp set) along with an exclusive black & white ribbon from Crafty Ribbons (given to me as part of the DT privileges).
The white linen effect base and all the red different texture cardstock is from Papermill Direct, the faux pearl effect flower string is from That Craft Place via Facebook shop page, the mirror card is from Creata via Create & Craft tv. The small "crystals" that make up the star are from a seller on ebay and are labelled crystal.
I really hope you do like this card as much as I do, and I await your reply with hope and anticipation.

Daisy Kitten in pinks & purples

Hiya peeps,

A girls/ladies Birthday card for you today, This gorgeous image is by Di's Digi Stamps and is called Daisy Kitten. I coloured this little beauty with my set of Pastel Spectrum Nior pens. I love the combination of pastel pinks & pastel purples. I think the backing papers are all from Papermania but I cant guarantee it. The ribbons, though, are definitely from the  Strawberry set of Jam Pot ribbons by Crafty Ribbons. The purple mini gems are from my own stash and the base card is from Papermill Direct.

I am entering this in to the following challenges:

Bows team for Crafty Ribbons Challenge Blog....

Hiya peeps,

The theme this fortnight, over at

Animals at Christmas

I chose a lovely image drawn by the very talented
 Delicious Doodles called Penguin Family.
I made it into a beautiful (even if I say so myself) easel card.
Matt & layered with a bright blue card and blue pearl effect stars & flat backed pearls.
The fabulous wide ribbon is called Singing Penguins and is available HERE.
I topped the ribbon chocolate box bow with 2 clear dazzles.
The backing paper behind the picture is from the fabulous "Santa's List" by Teresa Collins.
I think its one of the best 12x12 inch paper set Ive ever brought... its so sparkly, lush
and doubled sided with some contemporary Christmas paper designs.

Thankful For You complete with a turkey

Hiya peeps,

Another post by me, this time, featuring a beautiful image from Simpy B Stamps called Thankful For You, and turned it into this fabulous 8x8 inch card. I love teal/turquoise at the moment and I instantly thought of the pink & browns 12 x 12 inch papers from Craft Creations, in fact both of the papers were from there. I distressed the pink/brown paper with a dark walnut stain (I think I put too much on).
I added 2 layers of lace, a pale cream topped with a dark teal. I then cut & mounted the white grand decorative ovals (the 2nd to smallest size) using foam tape and then stuck the close cut image which has been coloured using my Graph It pens. I added a glaze to her eyes..
I also printed off the wonderful sentiment that came with the image, die cut it & glued it to the card. The flowers are from mainly Wild Orchid Crafts, the rest and the dark teal dazzlers are again, from a website who's name avoids me.

I am entering this card in to the following challenges:

Crafting Musketeers Midway Reminder

Hiya peeps

A midway reminder about Crafting Musketeers Challenge Blog's latest challenge of which the theme is Anything Goes But A Card!!!!

I will update this post asap but the main thing for you to see is the photos of the conversion/recycled tub that I made in to the wine bottle holder ;0

Ok, im back to finish off so I must sincerely apologise to you all who were waiting for
details about this fabulous (even if I say so myself) wine bottle holder/container.
The main first thing to do is to gather all the items you need
in one place, neatly, on your work area,

As you can see I started off with an Instant Potato tub (empty of course) and then measured
& cut  2 pieces of different coloured/patterned backing paper (I cant remember
where I brought mine from as its a couple of years old). This was stuck down
with ultra strong double sided tape to secure it.

I then attached the ribbons & lace, the coloured doilies, the picture with a bit of Glitter Snow brushed on certain parts of it to recreate a snow effect which also glitters in the light.
The finishing touches to my bottle holder are the crystal type beads, feathers (2 colours) and the ribbon (which is exclusive to Crafty Ribbons).

I would, however, not recommend putting actual ice in the tub as I cant guarantee the waterproofness of the tub but I would use the flexible ice packs that are made for
childrens/adult lunch boxes.
I hope you like this, my teenage daughter is grabbing it as a
Christmas present for her penguin loving best friend.
