Mmmmm A good challenge....part 3!

This post is continued on from the blog post on August 19th:

I had some marvelous news 2 days ago, my best friend of almost 40 years, has 2 daughters and a son, the middle child Rebecca had announced her engagement!! I instantly went into thinking mode: wow, congratulations, what design of card can I make her, what to use???? I did know that I didnt want to use a picture, image, or sentiment so something different was called for! Well, as usual, That all went out of the window when I actually sit down at my craft table and decide on what the main element of the card is going to be....my eyes fell on the heart haped white doileys that I had brought a couple of months ago, that was it!! My focal point of the card was going to be the heart.....and I had the perfect backing papers from the same range to add to the whole ongoing design!!

I chose an 8 x 8 inch scalloped edged card blank in ivory to start the card going, adding a matt & layer consisting of 2 papers from the Dovecraft Tea Party range (cutting an invert quarter circle to each of the 4 corners) and then added the new ribbon I'd brought from an internet supplier., its a beautiful pale ivory lace ribbon with pink hearts woven in to the lace. I then added a heart shaped lace doiley from Dovecraft's Tea Party range to the centre of the card but not across most of the ribbon. I then used silicon glue to uplift a thin card heart that I cut from a pale lilac colour using a Marianne Design die. I then, after careful thought, added the smallest faux gems I had got in my stash, to cover the little holes left by the cutting die! I added the "congratulations" sentiment in the bottom right hand corner, with the assorted pastel coloured mulberry paper hearts to both sides of the doiley heart....giving a soft romantic feel to the card (in my eyes anyway lol). I hope you like the finished result...

This card is the final instalment for the Facebook challenge that Nikky Hall (owner/creator/designer at www.Polkadoodles.co.uk who set a challenge for us, on August 5th, to make 3 blog posts during the month of August:

Please, not only keep commenting on my posts, but also follow my blog....you never know what you might find out about me!! lol ;0 xxx

Mmmmm A good challenge.... part 2!

This post is continued on from the blog post on August 5th:

Part 2:  My dear neighbour moved house yesterday to a village a couple of miles away,
she did a house exchange with the tenant of the 3 bed house and luckily this woman
wanted to move back to here.  I wasnt going to let Alison go with out me atleast
giving a card so hence me looking through my stamps. I can across my Polkadoodles
box and I knew instantly that one from the "Neighbourhood" range would be ideal, so
I chose the mushroom house as I wanted the garden feel to the card...
I made the side stepper card from one piece of A4 card, chose the backing shaped
pieces of coloured card from one of my storage boxes (as when I get my Grande
Calibur out I tend to cut more than the ones I want for that particular card) and then
cut the felt flowers and the "grass" using my newer cutting dies (the grass one is from
Marianne Designs at http://www.mariannedesign.nl/ ) and felt squares from
the prize I won on Facebook last month (curtosy of Colour-Full-Felt at http://colour-full-felt.co.uk/craft-felt/craft-felt-metres?gclid=COHPj8_T87ECFVMdtAodvRwA8Q )

I stamped the mushroom house, trees and small flowers using Memento Ink and then
I stamped the trees using Momento Ink and Archival (for the green tree leaves). All the
stamped images were coloured using my Promarkers. The Butterfly is cut from a sheet
of Polkadoodle printed paper from the Pen&Circle Club mini cdrom issue 3. (I cant
remember where I brought or what company made the butterfly die).
The finishing touch is the flower shaped faux pearls on the centre of the 2 felt flowers
and then along the grass.
The verse was printed on a piece of pearlescent paper and folded in (half like a card),
cut to size to fit on the back of the card and then stuck down on to the back of the largest
side of the card.  Photographs taken and the card is finished....

Mmmmm A good challenge....

Nikky Hall of the company Polka Doodles, (can be found at www.polkadoodles.co.uk)
has given Facebook craft group Polka Doodle Dandies, of which Im a member, to blog
3 cards in a month.
This usually isnt a problem for me but I must say that lately Ive had problems in keeping
awake and keeping up with my emails let alone anything else. Still, a kick up the bum is
just what I, along with many others I think, will need.

Ok Nikky, blog number one on Saturday evening 4th August at 11.15pm..:

The first card I wish to tell you about is a card I made using a digi stamp offered to
us by Emma Canning, who is now, able to sell her digi stamps on
www.polkadoodles.co.uk by Nikky kindly asking her.   Anyway, after printing out the
image, onto a thin white card, I coloured the image of the girl in Flex & Promarkers, then
cutting them with my Spellbinders dies and my Grande Calibur. The papers are all from
the Pen & Circle club issue 3 cdrom, (I love them as they are so fresh but also bright). The
flowers, Mulberry paper and the double sided ribbons are both from my own stash.
