A Box card for my First DT card for Quirky Crafts!!!

Good Evening peeps, yes its late. I kindly, very kindly got reminded earlier this evening that I had not put my post up for my first member of the Design Team for Quirky Crafts blog!! Oooopppsss sorry boss lol ;)
Our theme, over at this month is Black & White with a bit of Colour. My colour was in the shades of grey on the leaves of my creation.  To make this box card yourself just score along each of the A4 Gatefold lines on your scoreboard. (Dont forget to score on both sides of your card so the fold lines are crisper).  I used a stiff hessian open weave net to act as a backing on 2 sides. All the items (apart from the Mushroom images) I have used on my box card are from my own stash. (Ive got that much excess stock that I need to use it up lol).
There isnt alot else I can say about this card as it was so easy to make. Oh, it ties together using ribbon, only about 6 inches length with some of that secured onto the back of the base card. I used grossgrain but any variety of ribbon will do.  I hope you like the card as much as I do.
Come along and join the team and me, (im only a guest designer for 2 months) but its fun. Some great prizes to be won every month. The sponsers this month include  Crafty RibbonsLimited Runs Stamps and  Robyns Fetish Digital Stamps

For Mum.....

Good Morning peeps,

Not a very good morning here, I got woken by my carer walking through the front door, first time in ages that Ive been woken up by them. Still, Tia, my teenage daughter, hasnt got school this week, infact I must get her to write me a schedule out for the next few weeks as to when shes got to go into school for exams & lessons that she still has exams in. (The school have informed parents that students only have to attend lessons that they still have examinations to sit). Tia has taken quite a few exams this last week and a couple in the previous weeks, so Ive lost track! The one exam I definately know shes taken is Art as it was spread over 3 seperate sittings as it was a full 10 hours long! I kept my eye on that exam as its the one that is more important as college acceptance in September all depends on that main one.
Still, enough about my daughter... Ive been quite busy this last few days making cards. Im presently working on a commision order for a 45th Wedding Anniversary (Sapphire) so is being made using different shades of blue. I also realised this morning that Ive coloured a bunch of roses in blues but then realised that it should be more of a wedding theme, so I need either bells, doves, rings or a church theme..... time for some rethinking on that card then later today. Ive got until mid June anyway so no rush.

Back to todays post. Its my ex mum-in-laws birthday tomorrow so I wanted to make a really special card for her. Ive not been to see her at her home for a couple of months now (I did see her at a family wedding in April) as I dont like to see her ill. Shes been diagnosed with the onset of Dimentia.  Its a horrible thing to watch and hear about how shes suffering as shes so lovely and beautiful.  I decided to use a single rose (but quite a large image as the center piece of the card). Its a digital image from the company called: Digital Delights By Louby Loo.
After printing on to a smooth card at 225gsm I cut it into an oval shape using my Spellbinders Grand Decorative Ovals in my grand calibur machine. I wanted to make a large card so opted for an 8x8 inch square using a beige pearlescent card (2 x A4 sheets cut in to the relevent sizes) stuck and folded together to form the card base.  I then matted & layered with various papers & card, adding a piece of ornagey yellow ribbon to the top layer of card, then layered 3 sheets of Kanban Spider Web Netting in lime green and ivory to the top. The next stage was to add the coloured image of the single rose. I decided to colour the rose in yellows as its my favourite colour & also my own mums favourite colour of a rose. I coloured the rose using my Promarkers and one of my pens. The sentiment is copied from one I already have in my stash but the colour card is was on just didnt go with the card. The final touch was 2 layers of Spellbinders Papillions (Butterflies), the bottom is a full version & the top is a cut out version of the same. I coloured them in using glitter Sakura pens for a pearlesent finish to them.
I hope you like the finished result as much as I do ;)

Digi Stamps 4 Joy (DS4J) New Images Release Sunday

A new digi stamp has been released this morning, a beautiful sunny day for a beautiful digi stamp.
Released by Digi Stamps 4 Joy, (DS4J) of South Africa, brings detailed information that is so vital
as a baby is born to many relatives and friends of the parents. This digi is also available in the "It's a Boy" image.

I decided to make a gatefold card using the girl digi and I love the results. I wanted to concentrate on the image rather than the card itself, as it should be for a new stamp release. The image was coloured using just 3 Promarkers and a Sakura Shocking Pink Glitter Pen.
I used a piece of A3 white pearlescent card & scored along the DL line on my score board, turning the card round to score the opposite side. The backing papers, the shocking pink checked inside the card is from a cdrom by and the front paper is a 12x12 inch creative paper by Craft Creations called "Pink Baby Wording". I used 3 coloured feathers and "gems" on wire tucked in with them to the right hand side fold and made a small bow to glue at the base of the feathers using "A Baby Girl" pastel pink ribbon by
The finishing items that I used are Pinflair glue gel to secure the image tag to the left hand side fold (only at the left hand shaped end) then adding the words "Baby Girl" button type topper to cover the hole (as it looks like a brad). I then added a pink satin teddy which I cut off a roll of ribbon I had, cut 2 feet with pink linen effect card using a punch and a Marianne Designs die to cut the nappy pin.
I hope you like the overall card.

DS4J DT New Release Digi Stamp - Yes I'm late-(but it was my daughters birthday!)

Good Evening peeps, yes I know I am very late in posting this card & details on my blog but I did have a really good youngest child, Tia, turned 16 on Monday but the celebrations started on Saturday with my eldest daughter & her family visiting as it was the only day they could spare...alot more visitors all weekend & Monday evening made me very tired yesterday (Tuesday) but Ive more or less recovered now.
For this new image of Margy's, I coloured with bright & funky Promarkers, added some glitter to the headlights, metallic pens used on the wheel rims and the windscreen wipers to mimic steel/chrome.
I used a linen effect white card for the card base, just scored in half. I then added a vivid pink pearlescent paper for the bakground topped with a fairly vivid purple pearlescent paper. Its fairly rare that I dont use a ribbon on any card I make so I found a piece of black grossgrain with fauz white stitches and faux daisies on it. I wanted to add loads of funky bright paper flowers to the card but I hadnt got much space left, so, after lifting a piece of the pink backing paper, I slid in a piece of hessian type mesh which is really stiff. Supported with pinflair glue gel, the flowers held on with sheer grace and finished with a faux pearl in the middle, I think that they look stunning. The overall effect looked ok but to make it really really well. That was done by adding the 2 large retro patterned buttons, the funky butterfly (which is actually a decorative item that fits on to a "croc" shoe with the fastening cut off and stuck with Pinflair glue gel) and the small corner of white lace.

The Flower Power Camper Van image is the property of Margy at DigiStamps4Joy, but can be found here.....  CLICK HERE FOR THE DIGI STAMPS 4 JOY ONLINE SHOP

A card for a blog challenge from Polkadoodles (for a change)

This weeks challenge from the Polkadoodles blog is for "Anniversaries"....
Ive not got time to make a new card for this challenge (this card, as its not been posted on my blog before now still qualifies) but I did make and post one this last week to my best friend (of 42 years)
& her hubby. Lynn & Kevin have now been married for 30 years so I wanted to make them a lovely but not too cute card and the only way to do that is to use an image hand-drawn and handpainted in watercolours on paper by Nikky using Zig Art & Graphic Waterclour twin pens. Nikky is owner & designer at I got the image from the  Cherry Blossom Lane cdrom,  coloured the 2 rabbits with my promarkers and a couple of flexmarkers (sorry I cant remember which colours I used now). The ribbon is printed with Happy Anniversary on a burgundy background and just sets it off lovely. I also used Kanban Spider Web netting in white as a background against the paper which is from one of my other Polkadoodles cdroms that was printed ages ago. The "30" was a precoloured image from the Cherry Blossom Lane cdrom. I hope you like it as much as both the happy couple & I do!

Tia's 16th Birthday weekend

Good afternoon peeps...

Well Ive had a busy weekend and I dont know about you, but Im completely tired and worn out. From all of last week with every single card Ive made , this last week has all been worth it. It was also my youngest daughters 16th birthday on Monday so the celebrations began on Saturday as it was the only day my eldest daughter and her family, could visit. They only live 6 miles away but I dont see them as often as I would like to due to my health problems stopping me from driving. The end result of 3 days of work is one very happy teenager who has still gone to school every day, with birthday cake going in to her best friends and the lovely lollipop lady who, as a family, have known for the last 15 years through the girls going to the same high school.
As I wanted Tia to have a nice birthday cake, I checked with a few cake makers before choosing a very local one, it was only 1/2 mile away lol, called Little Cake Boutique. I fully recommend this company, run by a lovely lady called Helen. After a few private messsages & emails via Facebook we finally decided on The Twilight Saga (about vampires) if anyone doesnt know. Helen worked her fabulous magic and produced a tripled layered red velvet cake sandwiched and coated with chocolate buttercream and then covered with fondant.  The finished result was so schrumsious, yummiest cake that both Tia & I have ever tasted.....I also forgot the most fabulous, wonderful, lifelike cake, well see for yourself in these photos............ (even the cake board was covered in fondant to represent the chessboard in one of the books & films of the Saga). The apple is actually a proper apple covered in fondant.

You can find all about the The Twilight Saga/Series here. Its written by the very talented  Stephanie Myer

Thats it for todays post peeps., and thank you to every single person who has said/visited/wished/given Tia, my youngest daughter, birthday greetings and/or presents.
Bye for now
Love Marg, Tia & Reggie (my staffy/bll mastiff dog, whos currently sitting right behind me on this armchair!!) x
